The Corporate Planning Department of the Nigerian Railway Corporation has the responsibility of providing strategic direction to the corporation with the main objective of ensuring that synergies are built between every other unit in order to achieve the organization’s Corporate mission and vision.

The Department comprises of three divisions and seven units.

ØInformation and Communication Technology.

ØPlanning and Policy.

ØResearch, Health, Safety and Environment.


KEY FUNCTIONS OF CORPORATE PLANNING DEPARTMENT

ØDevelops business strategies, processes, procedures, policies and standards that meet the needs of the Corporation.

ØOrganizes the Corporation’s Annual Management retreat.

ØHandles rolling plan activities and preparation of Corporation’s capital budget.

ØMonitor and evaluate capital projects for performance and provides efficiency target for the various departments.

ØResearch into operational modalities, collect, process and manage data and statistics relating to the Corporation.

ØResponsible for Information and Communication Technology and the data bank of the Corporation.

ØResponsible for minimizing occupational health risks and ensures compliance with safety and environment requirements including conduct of accident enquiry.

ØCo-ordinates the collection, collation and production of periodic publications including monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports.

ØReviews, develops and manages all Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives from conception to implementation.
