The Department is made up of two Sub – Divisions namely:
(I) Litigation
(II) Secretariat to the Nigerian Railway Corporation
FUNCTIONS OF THE LITIGATION SUB – DIVISION
(a) Farm-out cases to external solicitors.
(b) Follow-up with external solicitors
(c) Drafting of all Legal Agreements, Memorandum of Understanding.
(d) Attending and making appearances in court especially (Magistrate and Federal Courts)
(e) Respond to all legal issues relating to the Nigerian Railway Corporation.
(f) Interpret laws, rulings and court judgments
(g) Drafting and sealing (with NRC’s seal) all Contract Agreements
(h) Provide Legal opinions and Legal Advise
(i) Conduct research and analysis of legal problems
(j) Communicate with aggrieved parties seeking out-of–court settlement
FUNCTIONS OF THE SECREATRIAT TO THE NIGERIAN RAILWAY CORPORATION BOARD
(a) Prepare and file all Board minutes
(b) Organize Board meetings and Board Sub-committee meetings upon approval of Board Chairman.
(c) Act as custodian of NRC’s legal documents
