Engineer kabir Zayyana is the Director Mechanical/Electrical/Signal & Telecommunication (MEST). He is from Katsina LGA of Katsina state. He started his education at Danmarna Primary School, Katsina (1967-1973), Federal Government College, Jos (1973-1978), Katsina College of Arts, Science and Technology, Zaria (1978-1980), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1980-1983) where he obtained his B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering.

He joined the Nigerian Railway Corporation in 1985 with the following career progressions: Pupil Mechanical Engineer (1985-1987); Mechanical Engineer – Diesel: Northern District Locomotive Workshop, Zaria (1987-1989); Senior Mechanical Engineer: Diesel Locomotive Workshop, Zaria (1989-1991; Principal Mechanical/Electrical Engineer: Diesel Locomotive Workshop, Zaria (1991-1994); Acting District Mechanical/Electrical Engineer: District Locomotive Running Shed, Kafanchan, North Eastern District (1994-1996); District Mechanical/Electrical Engineer, North Central District, Kafanchan (1996); Acting Chief mechanical/Electrical Engineer, North Central District, Kafanchan (1996-1998); Railway Inspection Engineer, China (1989); Acting Railway District Manager, Western District, Ibadan (1998-1999) and North Central District, Kafanchan (1999-2000); Railway District Manager: North Central District, Kafanchan (2000-2001), Northern District, Zaria (2001-2002); Acting Deputy Director-Mechanical/Electrical Department, Lagos (2002-2004); Acting Director, Mechanical/Electrical Department, Lagos (2004-2006); Head, Corporate Planning, Lagos (2006-2011); Deputy Director, MEST (2011-2016); Director, MEST (2016).

He is a Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Council for the Registration of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IIEME), Pakistan Railways Directorate of Research and Training (PRDRT).

He is happily married with Children.
